Psychotherapy
Therapy is a very personal and unique process. No two people are alike and there is no specific formula for healing. What I offer is guidance and a safe space to fully explore yourself and open to your own innate wisdom.
I use the arts, nature and somatic therapy to support people struggling with the emotional challenges of living with chronic disease so they can live with more ease and balance.
It is not easy to live in this world with a chronic disease, riding the ups and downs of health in the midst of a high pressured stressful society. Living with chronic disease demands extra time, energy, and attention that is often hard to fit into an already busy life.
I help people get clear on their priorities to manage their time and reduce stress that comes from being too busy.
I teach people about the deeper meaning of self care and how to live from a place of self compassion and acceptance
I help people connect to and appreciate the wisdom of their bodies
I work with trauma and other wounds that can get held in the body and affect our health
I help transform beliefs that get in the way of finding acceptance and joy in our present situation

Expressive Arts Therapy
Expressive Arts is a form of therapy that uses the arts to explore feelings, create connection, open creativity and integrate experiences. It can use a variety of art forms in a session and sometimes weaves them together. Examples are:
visual arts--collage, drawing, painting, sculpting
movement--dance, authentic movement, subtle body awareness
writing--free association, story creation, poetry
music--making, listening, lyric analysis
drama--improvisation/play, enacting situations, empty chair

Do I Have To Be An Artist?
No prior arts experience is necessary. Expressive Arts is more about the process and using the arts as a way to explore and express feelings.
How Can It Help?
Expressive Arts Therapy is useful because it takes us into our senses and helps us drop below our thinking mind. From this place we can discover:
resources we were unaware of that can help us in everyday life
new solutions to problems we keep encountering
freedom of expression
creativity and a renewed sense of vitality
fun!!!--let yourself play, experiment and enjoy! There is no right or wrong.
Somatics, Hakomi and Qi Gong
Somatic therapy is the idea that there is a body mind connection. This means that our feelings and experiences reside in both our brain and the cells of our bodies. Therefore, in order to heal we must work with our minds and bodies.
Hakomi is a mindfulness based somatic therapy. It uses the practice of present moment awareness to tune into physical sensations and feelings that can lead us to images, memories and beliefs that have shaped us. Through working with the information that lives in our bodies we can create change and healing.
Qi Gong is an energy practice. Qi is the vital life force that moves through our bodies. When we have energy blockages the qi becomes stagnant or stuck and can create pain, heavy or thick energy, fatigue and many other symptoms. I have been practicing qi gong since 2011 and can offer some simple and basic exercises to open the channels and allow the qi to flow freely. I can also help you tune in to your subtle energy body so you can learn to work with your own qi.

Eco-Therapy
Eco-Therapy uses nature in therapy. It holds the idea that we are part of a larger ecosystem. Eco-Therapy can be used in different ways, such as:
nature based sessions
natural objects and/or imagery in the office or in our imagination
How Can It Help?
Time in nature is shown to calm down our nervous system, relieve anxiety and decrease depression.
Mother nature offers a space that can hold all of our thoughts and feelings
Nature gives us a bigger perspective on our life and problems
Nature helps us slow down, drop into our senses and be present in the moment
Nature is beautiful and brings us joy!
